Want to be an Angry Bird? The second annual Fun in the Sun gathering on July 28 will feature a life-size Angry Birds game. Hosted by Urban Road Church through its UrbanKids program, the gathering will build upon last year's success.
"We had a good debriefing session afterwards," explained Pastor Anthony Yackel, with Urban Road.
What proved popular is oldfashioned games that required kids to test their motor skills or try their hand at something new, instead of having high-tech activities.
The Pitch Burst is back. People can pitch a ball and if they hit a target, waterballoon bursts and a person gets doused. People can also volunteer to sit under the balloon.
As well, there will be crafts, a bouncy castle, draws for movie tickets, water games, treats and more.
New this year will be a life-size version of an Angry Birds type game.
And it's all free to the public. "We realize that families are always looking for something fun to do and something that doesn't break the piggy bank in the process," he said.
Fun in the Sun is 1-3 p.m. on Sunday on the rugby pitch by the Langley Events Centre.
"This is our second annual UrbanKids Fun in the Sun event and we're sure you're going to love it," Yackel said. "We do this as a way to give back to our community."
