Dear Editor,
As a person with autism, I'm against genetic screening that leads to abortion.
I'm against Autism Speaks, because the people who work for that organization raise money for research towards genetic testing. They also focus on the worst case scenarios, instead of using the money to good use in order to help people on the spectrum according to their needs.
I'm doing very well. I live on my own, do my own chores, pay my own bills; I work and I have friends.
I feel that all people should be born into this world, whether they have a disability or not, no matter what their disability is.
Think of all the people with disabilities who have brought joy to us, like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, both blind musicians, Christopher Burke, an actor with Down Syndrome who played Corky on Life Goes On, and Gary Newman who has Asperger's Syndrome, a type of autism, who's famous for his song, Cars.
