In a video re-enactment, Roy Thielen matter-of-factly described for police how he and Robert Bradshaw carried out the murders of two people in Langley and Surrey three years ago.

The footage was played for a jury in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster Thursday at Bradshaw’s trial. Bradshaw is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of 36-year-old Laura Lynn Lamoureux and 33-year-old Marc Bontkes.

Thielen, who earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison, was not present in court to give evidence about the video recording. Last week Thielen refused to testify against Bradshaw and was cited for contempt.

In the video, Thielen told police that on March 14, 2009, he and Bradshaw – whom he referred to as Paulie – were driving around selling dope. Thielen had a gun with him and a bulletproof vest.

Bradshaw received a call from Lamoureux, who wanted to buy drugs. Thielen had dated Lamoureux and the two did not get along, so Bradshaw dropped Thielen at a park before the drug deal.

Later in the evening, Lamoureux called again because she wanted to exchange some speed for heroin.

“[Bradshaw] said, ‘There’s your hit,’” Thielen said.

Thielen told the officers that he wanted to kill Lamoureux for a number of reasons.

Lamoureux was supposedly involved in kidnapping and assaulting Michelle Motola, who was like a sister to Thielen, and he wanted payback. Thielen said Lamoureux and Bontkes also were suspected of robbing the drug lines, and because Thielen was an enforcer, it was his job to find out who was responsible and take care of the problem.

The men went to the meeting spot near 202A Street and 50th Avenue in Langley and Thielen got out to wait for Lamoureux. He walked slowly up the street, checked his gun and waited.

“I could hear her boots clicking on the street,” he said.

Thielen walked out into the intersection, and when Lamoureux turned and recognized him, he began shooting. He calmly showed police how he walked toward her as he fired, arms straight out in front of him. When he ran out of bullets, Thielen got into Bradshaw’s car and they drove off.

“That was that,” he said. After Lamoureux’s murder, Thielen said he, Bradshaw and Motola planned how they would kill Bontkes and tried a dry run, but it didn’t happen.

On March 19, 2009, they carried out a version of their plan. Motola told Bontkes she was working alone and needed someone to come with her to a drug deal. Bontkes agreed and she dropped Thielen and Bradshaw at Hi-Knoll Park in Surrey before picking up Bontkes. A short time later, Motola returned with Bontkes.

“He got out of the car and Paulie shot him,” Thielen said.
