An RCMP officer and another driver were taken away by ambulance Monday morning after a two-vehicle collision at Glover Road and the Langley Bypass.

The crash took place around 8:20 a.m. and saw the Langley Mountie’s cruiser and a black SUV collide.

The officer, who called in the crash himself, had been heading west on the Langley Bypass when he saw a traffic violation, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

The officer apparently tried to turn to follow the violator, and his cruiser clipped the front end of an eastbound SUV.

The driver of the SUV was taken away on a stretcher in an ambulance.

The RCMP officer was mobile after the accident, but was put into a neck brace and was loaded onto a back board and stretcher and also taken to hospital.

Their injuries are thought to be minor, Marks said.

The two cars were both damaged, and the cruiser’s front end was mangled in the collision.

The Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Team was called out to look into the crash.

The Independent Investigations Office, which has civilian oversight into crashes and other injuries involving the RCMP, will be consulted, Marks said. The IIO can decide if it wants to look into the crash.
