Twin Rinks marks renos with grand re-opening celebration

Langley Twin Rinks celebrated its recent face lift with a giant party Saturday afternoon.

The 90,000 square foot Canlan Ice Sports-operated facility, which includes two NHL-sized ice rinks, closed on June 24 to accommodate an extensive renovation project that included:

. two re-built ice surfaces with new boards on rink No. 2;

. a new lobby and entrance;

. updated washroom facilities;

. new administration offices; and

. other building upgrades and improvements.

To help celebrate the improvements, Twin Rinks held a number of promotions and special events throughout September, culminating with Saturday's grand re-opening event.

The afternoon re-opening included free skating lessons with on-ice instructors; hot dogs, drinks, and snacks; a kids play area with bouncy castle and sand castle buildings; face painting; facility tours; and games and contests.

Langley Twin Rinks is home various related businesses.

Outside, the facility has have a full size outdoor beach volleyball court, a three-on-three basketball court, and more than 200 parking stalls.
