Dear Editor,
North of the Fraser River, the two Coquitlams have Skytrain, the West Coast Express, plus no tolls on the Pitt River Bridge.
Do we have the wrong politicians and city mayors south of the river?
It is not as if we in Surrey and Langley have several choices of crossings. Those who live in Langley do not have a good, fast bus system, or fast bus over any of our bridges for blue collar workers to use.
Due to poor transit planning, our fast bus service over the new Port Mann Bridge was threatened, even though Langley built a new park-and-ride.
TransLink gets plenty of our Langley dollars for transit, but our community gets little benefit from it.
I say, opt out! We will have to pay two tolls to go over any of our two bridges, with a third toll projected in the future on the Patullo.
There is something wrong with this picture. We are working Joes in these communities; we are not the North Shore. Do we need new politicians?
I will sign up for the cheaper toll, but when it ends, my working dollar will not let me afford six dollars a day, plus gas, plus car expenses, parking, etc.
