A parked car in North Langley proved a tempting target for a thief, and led to the loss of a $3,000 ring.

On Feb. 24, a thief broke into a car parked in a residential area of Walnut Grove, taking a woman's coach purse and two wallets, said Cpl. Holly Marks of the Langley RCMP.

In addition, a ring worth $3,000, a graduation gift for the owner of the purse, was also swiped.

Marks said that the vehicle may have been left unsecured, and encouraged all drivers to lock their vehicles, and remove all valuables when they leave the car.

Thefts of purses, wallets, iPods, cellphones, and numerous other items have been taken from Langley cars by thieves in recent years. Police have been warning drivers and working to crack down on the problems.
