Students at Gordon Greenwood Elementary had a special visitor - a lion - in their classes Jan. 26 as they learned about Lunar New Year.
This one had a massive papier mache head with a mouth that opens and a colourful fabric body.
The Grade 5, 6 and 7 students in the English Language Learners program taught fellow students about the New Year celebrations important to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures.
They also performed a lion dance with a large papier mache and fabric puppet, and showed ceremonial outfits from their cultures.
