McLellan Forest: Save treasure for children

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my concern that the town may sell McLellan Forest East for development.

I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina where there were old, second-growth forests like this one. Fortunately, I was allowed to play in the woods, which in part explains my love of trees and the wildlife that inhabits such places.

It is sad for me to think that the children of Langley will not get such a chance, if the forest is destroyed. Maybe the town thinks it needs the money, but the truth is, the town and the people need the forest more.

This is not like tearing down a building which can be replaced. If the forest is destroyed, a lot of wildlife will lose their homes and lives, and trees of such stature will not been seen again in your lifetime.

Please keep this natural treasure for the sake of your children!
