. A $2 million elementary school for Langley Meadows and a $5 million addition to Brookswood Secondary School were to proceed, despite an announced provincial freeze on capital projects.

May 27, 1992

. City council refused to pay its share for an air conditioning system at the Langley RCMP detachment headquarters. City counsellors were upset because the decision to install the equipment had been made by Township officials, with-out first consulting the city.

. A police officer was slightly injured when he was dragged by a car after he had tried to apprehend the youth driving it. The vehicle was spotted in Matsqui the next day, and police pursued it into Langley. The driver ran off after the car overturned at the corner of 248th St. and 56th Ave., but police arrested him minutes later.

. About 2,000 salmon fry were killed by a pesticide spill in Langley Creek, headwaters of Murray Creek.

. Tired of waiting for private interests to develop Square One, Langley City council decided to build a civic square on its portion of the property at Fraser Hwy. and Glover Rd.

. The Jacob Haldi Bridge over Bedford Channel in Fort Langley was slated for replacement, at a cost of $2 million.

. An early morning police raid of eight Surrey homes resulted in the arrests of four teenagers thought responsible for a series of commando-style robberies in Langley and other nearby communities.
