A late-night Craigslist jewelry sale turned into a robbery in a Langley shopping mall parking lot last month, RCMP say.

The seller of some jewelry agreed to meet a potential buyer at 1 a.m. on Jan. 27, in the parking lot of the Colossus movie theatre in Walnut Grove.

A woman offering to buy a chain arrived in a light grey older model pickup truck with an extended cab. She was accompanied by a man, said Cpl. Holly Marks of the Langley RCMP.

The man and woman selling the jewelry offered the chain for viewing, and then the man in the pickup truck pepper-sprayed both victims. The suspects jumped into their truck and fled, said Marks.

The male suspect is described as about 23 years old, 5'8", 170 pounds, with short light brown hair, a very short beard, and with black pants and a hoodie.

The woman is also in her early 20s, about 5'6", 135 pounds, with bleached blonde hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a hoodie with a yellow logo.

Langley RCMP have released a sketch of the male suspect, created by working with the victims, along with photos of the stolen jewelry.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or who has seen the jewelry can call the Langley RCMP at 604532-3200 or, to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-2228477 (TIPS).
