Give a kid a coat

This is the 10th year that West 49 has held its Coats for Kids campaign.

The West 49 store in Willowbrook Shopping Centre is part of the clothing chain's campaign to warm up winter.

Until Nov. 21, the store and all other locations will accept clean, gently used winter coats which will be donated to youth shelters and charities.

Since 2002 West 49 has been collecting coats for kids who need to keep warm in the winter. The ones collected here will benefit Covenant House.

There is a Coats for Kids collection barrel at each location. To sweeten the deal, West 49 will offer donors $25 off a new winter jacket purchase.

The campaign started back in 2002.

Year one secured a few thousand coats and since then West 49 has collected and donated more than 80,000 jackets to needy families across Canada.

This year's ambitious goal is 10,000 coats nationally.

This year, West 49 is encouraging their customers to share these stories and thanks through a web site that demonstrates how this campaign has touched people's lives. http://coatsforkids.west49.com/.
