Langley City Fire Rescue's fire hall threw open its bay doors and truck doors to allow people to tour the hall and check out its equipment on Oct. 11.
The annual tour as part of Fire Prevention Week Oct. 7-13 allows residents to learn about protecting people and property as well as about the inner workings of the fire department.
Sponsors allowed the fire department to also hand out fire-safety prizes to many attending and to provide snacks.
The fire hall is equipment to provide training to fire crews who were able to set vehicles and dumpsters on fire so crews could practice extinguishing the flames.
Children were able to dress in pint-size fire garb and try shooting a full-size fire hose.
The City fire department also hosted fire drills at schools, a pizza ride-along evening to check homes for smoke detectors, and the fire chief for a day contest, with the winner to be announced.
