Thomas Kemp got a $2,500 education grant from the New Car Dealers Foundation of B.C. through its bursary program. Employed by Langley Toyotatown and enrolled in the Automotive Management program at Automotive Business School of Canada, he received his bursary cheque from Blair Qualey of the New Car Dealers and Scott Kemp of Toyotatown.

With the help of Ball Park Sports and the Lower Mainland Baseball Association, the Canadian Cancer Society raised $5,900 in the third annual Going to Bat for Cancer Research fundraiser. A golf tournament at Redwoods Golf Club in Walnut Grove raised more than $59,000 to support the Maternity Expansion Campaign at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Mayor Peter Fassbender was also caught mingling with Santa Claus, as You've Gotta Have Friends prepared to present its Second Annual Community Builder Awards to individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations that have provided opportunities for Langley citizens to connect with others in large and small ways.
