If you have recently misplaced $500,000 worth of cocaine, the Langley RCMP would like to speak with you.

A tip from the public helped Langley RCMP find a large amount of cocaine in rural Aldergrove last week.

At about 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, the Mounties were called about a van. A caller said he had seen the van, heading east in the 27200 block of 8th Avenue, stop while three men got out and tossed three hockey bags into a ditch.

Officers checking out the tip found two hockey bags, with 21 bricks of cocaine inside.

The drugs would have had a street value of half a million dollars, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

Lower Mainland Police Dog Services officers were brought in to try and track down the remaining bag.

They could not find the bag, or the van and its occupants.

Without suspects, no one will be charged, said Marks.

However, Supt. Derek Cooke was pleased with the tip and discovery of the cocaine.

“This is a substantial seizure that we are happy to have off the streets,” Cooke said in a press release. “There is no doubt these drugs would have caused significant harm to many people’s lives. I am hopeful that instead, this seizure will have a positive impact.”

The area where the drugs were found is near the U.S. border crossing at 264th Street and Zero Avenue.
