Ridge singers at fest

The air will be ringing with song and laughter when the voices of eight choirs participate in the Coastal Sound International Choral Festival, July 4 to 9.

The festival is hosted by the Coastal Sound Youth Choir and the Children's Touring Choir of which more than half of the choir are from Maple Ridge.

Rainy Webster's Corners

There was singing, arts and crafts, hotdogs and chips, a cake walk, games and Dingo, a four-month old lamb at Saturday's Webster's Corners Day. The traditional pie-eating contest was won by Dan Mikolay of the Maple Ridge Recycling Society, and Justin Muirhead, in the teen category. From noon to 3 p.m. there was a Heritage Tea with sandwiches, baked goods, coffee, tea and lemonade. The Webster's Corners historic display showed the memorabilia of the families who settled in Webster's Corners.

Royal visit online

The royal visit kicks off this Thursday, and the TIMES website will have complete coverage of the newlyweds on their first official tour as a couple.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Will and Kate, will begin their royal tour of Canada at 2 p.m. ET on June 30, when the couple's plane lands in Ottawa.
