An anonymous tip led Langley Mounties to two arrests, 17.5 pounds of pot, and more than $120,000 in cash this week.

On Aug. 1, members of the Langley RCMP Drug Section were following up on a tip about drugs being shipped to Ontario.

They observed a 41-year-old Coquitlam man hand over a large black garbage bag to a 50-year-old Ontario man, in the parking lot of a Langley hotel.

At 3: 30 p.m., the Ontario man was stopped and arrested, said Const. Craig Van Herk, speaking for the Langley RCMP detachment.

Police found 17.5 pounds of packaged marijuana bud in the black ba.

Along with the drugs, they seized a huge pile of cash.

Police found $121,590 in Canadian currency in the truck.

They also seized his truck, a 2005 Volvo, which has an estimated value of about $20,000.

Later the same day, the 41-year-old suspected seller of the pot was arrested in Coquitlam.

Police seized another $2,000 in cash from him.

The Coquitlam man, whom police allege was the drug supplier, has a valid Health Canada licence to produce medical marijuana.

If he's found guilty of criminal drug production, he will likely lose the licence, Van Herk said. However, court proceedings could take well over a year in this matter.

Both men have been released to appear in court. Langley Mounties are recommending charges of trafficking and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking against both men.

Police did not say if the men have any known connections to gangs or other organized criminal groups. Police are continuing to investigate the case.
