Two trees (a palm and a magnolia) that were outside of the Timms Recreation Centre were dug up and moved to Douglas Park. The centre is being replaced with a new facility. Timms will operate out of the former Legion building on Eastleigh Crescent for about a year.

Langley Christian Elementary School assistant principal Jenny deGroot travelled with four Grade 11 students to Limpopo Province, South Africa, where they spent three weeks living among the Vende people at Gondolikhethwa. Cindy Ruiter, parent of one of the students slipped a Langley Advance into her son’s already full suitcase. The paper travelled three continents and 20 flying hours to get to its destination. Students, pictured with their hosts, were Bryce Minke, Joel Kleingeltink, Chris Ruiter, and Alex Roersma. With the students in the inset photo are deGroot (left) and two elderly women dressed in traditional Vende garb.

Not so fast!
Langley Thunder’s Johnny Pearson tracked down a New Westminster Warlocks’ ball carrier during a Pacific Coast Field Lacrosse League U16 game Sunday at New West’s Mercer Stadium. Pearson scored six goals and added four assists in a 20-16 Langley victory.
Officers investigating a fatal crash stood near the car, in the ditch to the right, on Thursday morning.
