VOLUNTEERS:

- Surrey Public Library is now recruiting for teen volunteers for the fall Coast Capital Reading Buddies Program that runs for six weeks from October through November. As a Reading Buddies volunteer, you are a role model to a young reader, practising reading with your buddy and engaging in fun literacy activities. For those 14-18 years of age. - The Oak Avenue Neighborhood Hub, located at 12740 102nd Ave., is desperately looking for volunteers to assist with its Senior's Luncheon and Clothing Exchange. If you can spare a two to five hours per month, contact Dave at 604-807-0306.

- Volunteers needed to assist at the 10th Annual Jog for the Bog taking place at Westview Park in North Delta on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 7 a.m. to noon. Duties include marshalling the 5K and 10K courses, assisting with set up and take down, assisting vendors where necessary, etc. "This is a great way to support Burns Bog, without having to break a sweat!" - Boys and Girls Club Community Services of Delta/Richmond is looking for volunteers to work with children and parents at our North Delta Family Resource Programs on Thursdays (morning or afternoon, other shifts may become available). - Sunshine Hills Foursquare Church hosts nine-week parenting class designed to help you build on your parenting skills, every Tuesday night from Sept. 23 to Nov. 23, 6:30-8 p.m. Fee $5 per person, register by Sept. 21. GRANTS/BURSURIES

- Peninsula Arts Foundation is beginning its grant application process. Applications now available at Tapestry Music, 1335 Johnston Rd., and online at www.PeninsulaArtsFoundation.org. Grants available for young people (ages 14 to 25) who are continuing their studies or training in visual arts, voice, dance, theatre arts, piano and other instruments. CLUBS/GROUPS:

- Crescent Beach Photography Club meets the first and third Thursday of month at 7:45 p.m. at Camp Alexandra, 2916 McBride Ave., Crescent Beach, Surrey.

Doors open at 7:30. All welcome, season-opening event with a digital presentation by JT Tse/FRPS entitled "Mystic India," on Thursday Sept. 18. No charge.
