Judi and Tom Skolovy are pretty serious about Halloween.

The duo, with Judi in the lead, have decorated their Walnut Grove home with giant spiderwebs that swamp their yard, skulls and skeletons, rats and arachnids, bats, and a two-storey ghost.

"It's just fun," Judi said.

The couple recently moved from atownhouse into a bigger place, and they're enjoying the ability to use everything they've collected for Halloween. The couple has been accumulating decorations for a little over three years in a systematic way.

They've even taken to shopping the day after Halloween to get the bargains and get a jump on the next year's projects.

"As soon as Halloween is over, we're out the next day looking at stuff," said Tom.

Judi found out how much fun the season can be thanks to a friend who hosts an annual witch's feast, complete with hand-delivered invitations and scrolls for menus.

They started decorating right after Thanksgiving this year. Judi said she was going to hold off a bit, but saw that someone else in their neighbourhood had set up a ghost.

The couple feels Halloween is a bit of an underrated holiday.

"Because you can be kind of silly," said Judi. "Christmas is Christmas, but [for Halloween] you can go kind of all over the place."
