Langley runners nabbed top spots in this weekend’s Surrey Marathon.
Hundreds of runners braved the rain and laced up for the second annual Surrey International World Music Marathon on Sunday.
A husband-and-wife team from Coquitlam took top spots in the full marathon, which started and ended at Central City plaza.
Tatsuya Hatachi finished first in the men’s category with a time of 2:47:18, followed by Vancouver’s David Papineau and Langley’s Hans-Eric Zimmerling.
Rika Hatachi claimed the women’s top spot in a time of 2:59:41, with Kendra Braun of Langley in second place and Delta’s Erin Nestmann in third.
The marathon featured more than 30 musical performers along the route. The event also included a half-marathon, a relay, a five kilometre run and a fun run for kids.
