Dear Editor,
The last thing Langley Township needs is a casino.
Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts is to be congratulated on her principled stand in this issue.
Is there no limit to the greed of the Township council? No one wants to profit from the poor and weak in our community. Surely, as an ex-policeman, Mayor Jack Froese should be aware of the misery gambling can cause. To support their gambling addiction, people will even steal from their families.
Ironically, many horse-owners in the Township breed and race horses at Fraser Downs in Cloverdale, where the purses are supplemented from the slot revenue.
If there is to be another casino, the logical place would be an expansion at Fraser Downs.
