Author at Book Man

Local author Michael Clarke will be reading from his book, Awakening to World Disorder and Climate Realities, a book that "unveils a Gaian eco-social alternative to the status quo...so that mankind can finally resolve social injustice and conserve our climate." The reading is at The Book Man Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Signed copies will be avaliable.

August Barn Sale

The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven is having a Christmas in August Barn Sale on Aug. 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be Christmas items for sale as well as lots of new stuff. Teen video club

Rated T for Teen Video Club is Aug. 29, 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Library. Join us for video game fun at the Chilliwack Library. We'll provide the consoles; you provide the competition. Enterprising Moms

The Fraser Valley now has its own Enterprising Moms Network (EMN) chapter. EMN is a network to remind moms in business they aren't alone and that it is possible to be a good mom and a good business woman as well. We combine topics relevant to business moms--from business topics such as marketing, budgeting, loan assistance to health concerns, raising children, and relationships. EMN invites dynamic speakers each month who are leading experts and successful mom entrepreneurs to share their experiences and knowledge. Farm Credit Canada's upcoming major fund raising event for the Chilliwack Food Bank happens at the Atchelitz Threshermen's Museum on Sept. 26 from 11 a.m-3 p.m. The national FCC Drive Away Hunger program raised over 1 million pounds last year and almost 2 million pounds to date. The Chilliwack Community Band, one of Chilliwack's oldest established musical ensembles, needs musicians. Brass, reed and percussionists who have played their instruments in high school or other various musical programs will find enjoyment playing with the band. Chilliwack Restorative Justice in partnership with the National Crime Prevention Centre hosts a Parent/Youth Mediation program. The organization is looking for families who could benefit from the service that is free, voluntary, confidential, neutral, and assists parties through a process that helps the parent and youth build their own agreement.
