For the second time in as many weeks, we're bringing up the name of Langley's own Zaac Pick.
A few editions back, we told you about him winning the Sounds of Summer song search by SHORE 104.
Now, if that notice tweaked your interest and desire to see this local singer and songwriter in person, next week is your chance.
He's joining Murrayville's own Tucker Green for his CD release party at Willoughby Hall on Thursday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m.
The CD, Halfway to Daylight, arrived last month and according to Green is being "extremely well received" and getting him some media attention in the cities on his upcoming Canadian tour. The tour itself - which kicks off next month - will include stops in Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto to promote his new album.
The record combines the classic sounds of Americana, inspired by people like Bruce Springsteen, with popular roots-rock melodies.
In the meantime, check out his release party. The show will feature a full band, and will also include an intro set by Pick, whom Green worked with on past projects.
Tickets are available in advance for $12 at Long & McQuade in Willowbrook, and the Watershed Cafe in Walnut Grove, or at the door for $15.
GILLIAT RUMBAS IN HARRISON
Speaking of talented local musicians who are busy this fall, Langley's own John Gilliat and his acoustic guitar are going to be in Harrison Hot Springs for a big show called Makers & Shakers during the Labour Day long-weekend.
He and his quartet are one of Harrison's favourites, and he will be kicking off the festival on Friday, Sept. 3.
He has released his latest CD in Japan and Canada titled Beyond Boundaries. The new CD continues to offer new direction and contemporary expression to nouveau flamenco, flamenco rumba, and jazz.

ARTS MENTORING KICKS OFF
At least 10 recent graduates from Langley Fine Arts School are joining other aspiring young artists from around the Lower Mainland for a picnic between Locarno and Jericho Beaches this Sunday.
Fulfilling Young Artists (FYA) is a mentoring program where young actors, writers, and directors are paired with experienced professionals in their field.
Langley's Sage Brocklebank, a LFAS grade from 1995, is credited with creating this volunteer mentorship program, which officially kicks off with the picnic, from 1 to 4 p.m.
"It's an opportunity for the mentors and mentees to meet and forge new relationships," said Brocklebank, a Vancouver/Los Angeles-based actor who starred in Psych.
"When I started out as a young actor, I often felt stranded, and uncertain as to which actions to take. This program is created to provide guidance and structure for young artists," he added.
In addition to monthly meetings, proteges will be given the opportunity to accompany their mentors to rehearsals, to auditions and on set.
"This gives them a realistic view of their field," Brocklebank explained.
