Gymnastics programs at the Langley Events Centre were abruptly shut down on Tuesday as police looked into a possible threat to the facility.

"There was an implied threat, which we worked with the RCMP on," said Jared Harman, a spokesperson for the LEC.

However, he said the RCMP quickly determined that the threat was unfounded.

As a precaution, Langley Gymnastics Foundation quickly shut down its part of the facility, closing for the remainder of the day.

Other parts of the facility were not affected.

All operations were back to normal on Wednesday.

Harman could not speak about the exact source of the scare.
