Langley Township and City members were among more than 65 firefighters who put their skills to the test in the FireFit contest

On the first truly hot day of 2012, firefighters from around B.C., Alberta and the Pacific Northwest U.S. donned full fire gear for fun on Saturday.
They competed in the Scott FireFit Championships May 26 and 27 at Phillip Jackman Park in Aldergrove.
The fun came in the form of testing their firefighting skills in a Saturday obstacle-style course.
They had to, in heavy gear, do such things as run up a five-storey tower carrying a fire hose, spray targets, haul a 175-pound dummy and wield a sledge hammer.
The competition for the Pacific region featured individual contests as well as relays.
FireFit started at the PNE in 1994 and has grown to include national and international events.
