Langley's Cole Armour has a chance to perform in the Variety's Got Talent event.

To do this, the public has to go online and vote for his Variety audition video on YouTube. But don't dawdle. Voting closes Jan. 27.

He has been chosen as one of the People's Choice Awards competitors.

The competitor with the most "likes" for their audition will get to perform in the Variety's Got Talent Finals which take place Feb. 3 at the River Rock Casino.

That's also when the top 10 finalists compete in the annual talent show for the charity.

Last year's winner, Shylo Sharity of Fort Langley, has been performing steadily and even opened for country music legend Wynonna Judd.

Armour, 13, performed as a guest last year because he was too young to enter. Now that he's old enough, he's going for it as part of his passion for music.

"I want singing as my career. I love singing," he said. "I love music and the way it affects people."

He knows the effect firsthand. Armour recalls hearing Celine Dion when he was nine and "I couldn't believe how great she was and how incredible she sounded."

The Grade 8 student at Langley Fine Arts School plans to make music his life as he continues to build up a portfolio of performances.

"I was the only child to ever win the Red Robinson Talent Showdown at the PNE, and just recently performed on the Ellen Show," he said.

Armour has performed for many charities including cancer and children's charities as well as Variety.

Variety - The Children's Charity is a non-profit organization that raises funds and distributes grants throughout British Columbia to inspire hope, enrich lives, and build a better future for children who have special needs.

It provides financial assistance for therapies, specialized equipment, drug prescriptions, and out-of-town accommodation and travel costs. Variety also provides grants to children's organizations and hospitals for construction, renovations and equipment costs.
