Cloverdale's own Kelly Brock has just released her new country single to Canadian radio.
After taking the better part of the last couple years off to care for her baby girl Kayla, Brock is back with the first single from her upcoming CD, The Book of Love.
Her new song, More Than Words, is a duet ballad with John Higgins - from the popular country group The Higgins - and is a cover of the 1990s hit made popular by the band Extreme.
"Having John sing on this track with me has been so much fun," Brock said.
"John blends so beautifully with his sisters that you never get to really hear what he sounds like on his own," she said.
"On this duet, his lead vocal style is so warm and smooth and easy to listen to."
The new CD will include tracks written by Brock, and a few she co-wrote with Jason McCoy and Scott Baggett.
Brock was in Nashville last year, and wrote a bunch of tunes with the boys.
"Working with those guys was so effortless," she professed. "We all were on a roll and in just two days we pumped out eight songs! Not sure if all of them are keepers, but I think there are definitely a few gems in the bunch."
She's expecting to spend the rest of her spring in the studio recording and editing the new album, set for release this summer.
Brock's last CD, Rebel Kind was released in 2007 and garnered three singles and six BCCMA nominations.
In the past few years, Brock has seen many highlights in her career, including being invited to make her star on the Walk of Stars in Merritt, making her a permanent part of country music history.
She also had two of her songs from her last CD featured in the CBS drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Brock has also become a bit of a sought-after background vocalist, having sung on many well-known country recording acts CD's including Aaron Pritchett, Ridley Bent, and newcomer Chad Brownlee.
She also sang backup vocals on Canadian modern rock darlings, Hedley's new CD, and on the latest 604 Records disc for newly signed Langley boy Daniel Wesley.
As well, she has sung background vocals live for George Canyon, Gord Bamford, Aaron Pritchett, Bill Henderson and Chilliwack, Loverboy, Crystal Shawanda, Jaydee Bixby, Rick Tippe, Jessie Farrell, The Higgins, Michelle Wright, Lisa Brokop, One More Girl, and Victoria Banks.
Brock also has a YouTube channel with her galpal Rachael Chatoor called ALL ACCESS PASS where they interview and feature music industry professionals behind the scenes doing their thing - you can check out the channel at: www.youtube.com/user/rachaelpachelcamera.
As well, she also recently sang the national anthem at a Vancouver Canucks hockey game and it can be viewed at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XEa7ggewQM.
