He's been performing since the 1930s but Dal Richards has never played in Aldergrove - until now.
He's bringing his swing music to be part of the 100th anniversary edition of the Aldergrove Fair.
"We're really excited about that," said Mike Robinson, the Aldergrove Fair Days Society past president and an Aldergrove Agricultural Society board member.
The show is 6: 30-8: 30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the mainstage (Aldergrove Athletic Park).
One of the busiest musicians in Vancouver, Richards leads his orchestra of musicians in a blend of unique sounds that capture the best of the big band era, along with jazz, rock and pop standards from the 1930s to today.
In addition to his performances, he has recorded and produced five CDs, his latest, Dal Richards and Friends, One More Time was recorded live in CBC's newly refurbished Studio One, and was a co-production with CBC Radio. Dal also has a popular radio show, Dal's Place, a staple on the airwaves in Vancouver for more than 25 years, where it airs on AM650 on Sunday nights from 9 to 10 p.m., and you can listen online.
Richards has completed his memoir, Dal Richards, One More Time.
He's also still active in the community. He proudly played for the 2010 Paralympic Opening Ceremonies, the 2010 Olympics and the Province's 150th anniversary celebration.
