A young Johnny Vallis imitated his teacher one day and was sent to the principal's office.

"Why are you here," asked the principal?

Vallis showed him. The principal's response? "That's really good."

Vallis, now dubbed the man of many voices, has been imitating people ever since and has made a name for himself with a particular voice - that of rock 'n' roll legend Buddy Holly.

In a tribute to the rock icon, Vallis portrays both the look and the sound of Holly in a special 2: 30 p.m. matinee at Cascades Casino in Langley on Sunday, June 24.

Vallis's Holly tribute is first up in a new concert series, Malt Shop Memories, being introduced by Rock.It Boy Entertainment. The series will feature live music of the 1950s and '60s.

Tickets are $32.50 from the casino's guest services or at www.ticketweb.ca
