A comedy of Shakespearean proportions was a big hit with outdoor theatre-goers. And there's more to come.
More than 1,000 people took in Bard in the Valley's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream last weekend - wildly surpassing the group's modest expectations for the four performances at Douglas Park Spirit Square.
"It seems the people of Langley were ready for an outdoor theatre experience this summer," said co-producer Diane Gendron, "and they've come out to enjoy this wonderful romp in the park with a talented, energetic cast. Director Allan Thain has put his own lively interpretation on this Shakespeare play that is full of love - lost and won - fantasy, fairies, and fun."
Gendron added "We're delighted to see all the children in the audience. They are 'getting' what's happening on the stage and it's wonderful to hear them laughing out loud."
Admission is free and the fun continues tonight (Friday) and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. on the outdoor Spirit Square stage.
A third set of shows is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday Aug. 29 at 2 p.m., during the International Festival at the Willoughby Community Park, beside Langley Events Centre.
