It was a luncheon filled with the warm feeling that comes from genuine appreciation.
Langley Central Rotarians made it their duty to ensure that all sponsors knew their support of the 24th annual Fraser Valley Wine Tasting Festival was imperative to the event's success.
"This was the best wine festival ever," said event chair David Taft. "It was great wine, great food, great fun, and fellowship for all of us."
The event is expected to have raised more than $50,000 after the dust settles and the books are balanced.
The money will go to the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation for the family maternity centre expansion.
"The funds raised are pretty much a record for our club," said Rotarian, Rob Martin.
Among the sponsors named were BDO, the largest cash sponsor with its donation pledge of $15,000 each year for five years, and Willowbrook Shopping Centre, which has hosted the event for the past 21 years.
Both received special recognition with plaques presented by club president Ken Baker.
A total of 29 sponsors, including the Langley Advance were noted at the appreciation lunch.
Nearly $800,000 has been raised over the course of the 24 years the event has been held.
