Members of the Board of Langley Lodge were pleasantly surprised when the Rotary Club of Langley presented them with a power, medical wheelchair and a power scooter for the use of residents of Langley Lodge.
Past District Governor Wayne Wiebe explained how Carl Holm, a past president of the Rotary Club of Langley, was able to obtain the two pieces of equipment from his relative's estate, and how another club member, Jim See, refurbished the vehicles and installed new batteries to ensure they were in perfect working order.
The two vehicles are valued at $16,000.
"Our Rotary club has had a long involvement with the Langley Lodge," said Wiebe, "and we all know the value of Langley Lodge and the role it plays in our community."
The scooter and wheelchair were given to the Rotary Club of Langley on the understanding that they would be put to good use for the benefit of many.
"Tonight," Wiebe announced during the presentation, "we are pleased to hand over the two pieces of equipment from our club to the Langley Lodge," as Holm and See rode the vehicles to the front of the meeting room to a warm round of applause.
See, an active member of the Rotary Club of Langley who has recently been added to the board of Langley Lodge, was thanked for finding a suitable home for the vehicles.
