She's looking to run for the NDP and secure the seat currently occupied by Liberal MLA Rich Coleman.
Langley Teachers' Association president Gail Chaddock-Costello wants the NDP nomination for Fort Langley-Aldergrove, announcing her intention at least several months before the election so she has more time to campaign than when she sought nomination previously.
"I am confident that this time, with at least seven months to campaign and your support, I can bring home a win for our constituency and the provincial NDP," she said.
The NDP will select a candidate in late October with the next provincial election in May 2013.
She's lived in Fort Langley for 17 years and said she is well acquainted with the issues of the community.
"Our area is complex," Chaddock-Costello said. "We have many issues that need addressing: affordable housing, affordable child care, services for seniors, protection of our ALR, increased services in public education and all publicly owned services - including the challenge of keeping them publically owned."
