Move for Health Day is today (Thursday) and it's also the first day of swimming at Al Anderson Memorial Pool.

The Al Anderson Memorial Pool will open on May 10 for the 2012 season.

The season kicks off with Move for Health Day on Thursday, May 10 with a free public swim from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Al Anderson Memorial Pool has offered swimming lessons, public swimming, swim meets and special events since its opening in 1962.

Situated in City Park, this eight-lane, 25-metre pool is surrounded by nature, sports fields, a water park, and picnic shelters, making it a popular site in the summer heat

The City encourages all residents to get active and strives to provide opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy recreation.

There will be several family-friendly swims at the pool this year including Loonie Swim every Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
