Humanitarianism is about people helping people.

Held each Aug. 19, the United Nation’s World Humanitarian Day is a time to “recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others,” according to the UN’s website.

Not only is this a day to appreciate and celebrate those who help others, but it is also a time to make the move and volunteer. Neighbours, friends, strangers may not have much in common other than their willingness to help others.
