Taxes tiresome

Dear Editor,

The Port Mann Bridge is part of the TransCanada Highway, and it should be toll free, as should the ferry direct to Victoria, as it is also part of the TCH.

If you are going to toll all the new construction like the Port Mann, then you should be tolling the Sea to Sky. It was built primarily to provide service for the Olympics, yet as a resident of Langley who has never used that new road, I'm paying for it through our beloved TransLink.

If you are going to tax some of us, then tax all of us. I'm tired of paying taxes that support services I don't receive, and I'm guessing that anyone who lives south of the Fraser and into the Interior and up north are tired of paying for services to the Lower Mainland - north of the Fraser.

I don't use the transit system because it doesn't provide me with the service I need in a timely manner, yet I am charged on my hydro bill.

I'm tired of being nickeled and dimed to death for services that I don't receive.

Toll all the bridges and make all the users pay.

Don't keep screwing those of us south of the Fraser.

And by the by, how about all those out-of-towners who have not had to pay a cent to travel across our fair country until they get to BC Liberal Country?

D. Atkinson, Langley
