And the winners of the Aldergrove Fair Days chili cook-off are: the Legion Girls - One Spoon, Two Spoon ... Spare Room.
Their concoction was deemed best of all at Aldergrove's annual country fair, July 20-22. Seven chili-making teams competed in the blistering Saturday heat.
Second place went to Sticks & Picks, a combination of cooks from the Aldergrove Kodiaks junior B hockey team and the Aldergrove Skating Club. Third place, and the award for best team name went to Legion Men's Antacid Assassins. The BBQ Gang took the People's Choice Award.
The fair was hugely popular, despite lesser weather Sunday.
Well attended and offering something for everyone, as advertised, the fair covered all age groups and interests, said Aldergrove Fair Days Society secretary Robin Bandenieks.
Organizers estimated a 23 per cent increase in attendance over 2011. Numbers have not been finalized, but last year there were more than 7,500 visitors. This year, the number approached the 9,000 to 10,000 mark.
The Aldergrove Agricultural 100th Anniversary Exhibits and the feature on Aldergrove's history was the busiest in years, Bandenieks said. There were more than 350 entries in the agricultural exhibits.
