Matt Henry sure ain’t a juggler from mama’s era.

In fact, show promoter Rob Warwick said that Henry is unlike any other juggling act most people have ever seen before.

From busking on the streets of Manhattan to a six-year gig at DisneyWorld’s Backlot Theatre, Henry has “honed, perfected, and expanded” his repertoire so much that he’s won awards and rocked stages around the globe, from London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, to Paris, Vegas, and New York.

Well, Henry and his act called Trained Human, is coming to Langley later this month, allowing locals to be the judge.

“Proving he is the cure for the common juggler, Matt Henry brings a one-of-a-kind blend of serious skill, cutting-edge effects and innovative wit to the stage,” said Warwick, the show promoter. “This incredible performer will have you on the edge of your seat and laughing yourself silly.”

He’ll be performing at Cascades Casino’s Summit Theatre on Saturday, July 21. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show to follow at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 and available from casino guest services or www.ticketweb.ca.

As a child growing up in Madison, Wis., Henry discovered the joy of juggling from the classic learn-to-juggle tome Juggling for the Complete Klutz and threw himself whole-heartedly into this odd pursuit.

He cut his teeth busking on the streets of Manhattan, and later moved to Orlando, Fla. honing his skills with thousands (yes, thousands) of shows on the stages of that city.

He continued to expand his technical repertoire as well; his hard work was rewarded in 2001 when he bested dozens of other world-class competitors to win a World Juggling Championship.

Since then, Henry claims his unique brand of charm and skill has kept him in demand around the world, from corporate boardrooms to the high seas, from night clubs to symphony orchestras around the globe.
